Letter from CEO
Dear All
I would like to thank you all for the incredible effort and impressive application of your expertise, determination and compassion during this period of unprecedented uncertainty. Who would have thought a few months ago we would be in this position? It was over two weeks ago that I first heard of the real potential of school closure and have watched and supported the creation of action plans; the schemes of work; the work packs provided so far and the amazing virtual classrooms that MLP pupils now have access to. I think when this is over, we will be proud of the fact that our already disadvantaged pupils, didn’t miss out too much! This has not been the case with all schools and some parents are floundering with no carefully collated and age appropriate work for their children.
As a CEO of a Trust, my responsibility is for both pupils and staff. I know how selfless you all are, I have received emails from you offering additional support for our pupils, but can I urge you to keep yourselves safe and follow guidelines. The rotas created involve staff numbers kept as low as is possible and will be kept on continual review. In the words of any team on the Chase, ‘take the safe option, we need you back here’ whenever that may be!
Please feel free to contact me, I am included in the SLT rotas and will see some of you in person, but with careful social distancing. Finally, they say that laughter is the best medicine, I am in a WhatsApp group with about a dozen other Trust leaders. We have a little bit of a running joke on the most bizarre job a parent claiming to be a key worker is, so far a dog groomer is winning the prize, but a nail technician in Essex came in a close second!
Please keep well, look after your mental and physical health and now you are home when you do have some time, take the opportunity to slow down to a degree and smell the roses.
